GPs

Why work in Gateshead?

Gateshead is a wonderful place to live and work in the North East. It has a population of around 211,000 people. The town is located on the southern bank of the River Tyne, opposite Newcastle, which is bound by seven bridges. This area provides many family-friendly attractions, such as the Millennium Bridge, The Sage music and arts venue, The Metro Centre, the beautiful National Trust site Gibside, as well as a wide variety of towns, villages, and open spaces.

We are proud to offer high levels of patient care across Gateshead and the surrounding areas.

Employed Model

Salaried GP positions at competitive rates for in-hours and out-of-hours sessions.

CBC provides medical indemnity and all statutory/mandatory training for salaried GPs, commensurate with their role. We encourage and support salaried GPs to undertake further vocational training, such as extended minor surgery skills, sexual health and occupational health.

Locum/Sessional Model

Locum and sessional work is paid at a competitive rate that varies depending upon type of session worked.

This is a self-employed model. GPs are responsible for their own indemnity, tax and national insurance. NHS pension deductions can be made by CBC on your behalf.

Self-employed GPs are personally responsible for CPD. Mandatory training, such CPR, Anaphylaxis and safeguarding is provided for all GPs and Duty Doctors.
